Documents needed to start
- Articles of Organisation/ Articles of Incorporation/ Business Extract.
- Director’s proof of address X2: these can be electricity/water/phone bills or bank statements.
- Valid passport.
- AVASK application form.
- Completed & Signed 64-8 form.
Required registrations and timeframes:
Our VAT registration timeline begins once AVASK has received all the necessary documentation required for the application. The process officially starts after we have reviewed and confirmed the completeness of the documents and submitted the application to the relevant tax authorities.
VAT (EU Based): 8-10 Weeks
VAT (ROW): 10 Weeks
Takeover: 1 week
EORI: 1-2 days
Documents requested by the Tax Office (if you are a non-EU based seller)
- Proof of goods purchased: supplier invoice (not a pro-forma), dated within the last 6 months.
- Agreement with 3PL partner (if applicable).
- Agreement with shipper letter: If sending parcels, agreement with DHL/FedEx/UPS.
- If sending pallets or containers, agreement with Freight Forwarder.
- Proof of UK website: URL and timestamped screenshot of UK website in GBP (does not need to be co.uk) or Amazon UK storefront.
- HMRC VAT registration questionnaire for online sellers.
If you are an Amazon Seller, HMRC will be looking for us to provide the following screenshots for platform evidence – these must be full page screenshots with the URL visible at the top and they must show the date and time of when they are taken:

4. Send to Amazon screenshot, this must be at stage 2 showing a clear Amazon UK warehouse address for delivery.
5. Shipping queue screenshot – this needs to show that you have one shipment as ‘Ready to Ship’ to a UK FBA destination.
6. Shipment summary screenshot (please ensure that the ‘ship to’ address is a UK address, seller name, URL, date and time must be included)

Filing Frequency: Staggered Quarters, running from January, February, or March.
Filing & Payment Deadline: Filing & Payment due 1 month & 7 days after the filing period end.
Repayments: No credit can be held on your VAT account, repayments will be issued by HMRC within 30 days, via cheque or to the registered bank account.
VAT Rates:
- Standard: 20%
- Zero Rated: 0% | Generally applies to food & drink excluding alcohol, transport, medication & books.
