What is SEPA?
SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) This zone includes all EU member states, as well as several non-EU countries, and enables easier and faster cross-border payments in euros.
SEPA-compatible banks include:
-
EU Member States Banks: All banks operating in the EU countries (such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, etc.) support SEPA payments.
-
Non-EU Countries Banks: Some non-EU countries, such as Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Monaco, and the UK (post-Brexit), also support SEPA payments.
-
Major International Banks: Many large global banks, including:
-
HSBC
-
Deutsche Bank
-
Barclays
-
BNP Paribas
-
ING
-
Santander
-
UniCredit
These international banks have branches in the SEPA region and generally offer SEPA payment services to their customers.
-
SEPA-Compatible Features:
-
SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT) for sending payments
-
SEPA Direct Debits (SDD) for authorizing payments
-
IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and BIC (Bank Identifier Code) are required for SEPA payments.
If your bank supports SEPA, you will typically find these options available for payments in euros, and you will need to provide your IBAN and BIC for transactions.
