Why do I need EPR?
- EPR is a regulation for all sellers putting goods on the EU market. It is needed so that you can pay towards the recycling of products you put on the market.
Does EPR cover the responsible person requirement?
- These are two separate obligations, EPR is to contribute towards the recycling needed for products put on the market. Responsible person is having an address where trading standards can contact the company to ensure product safety.
Do I need to put my EPR number on the label of my product?
- No need to add the EPR registrations to the labels.
Is it necessary to register a new EPR number if I add start selling new products?
- Only if you are selling new categories of products that are required for registration. If you are simply adding more products and no new categories, the next declaration will simply include the new products.
What will the contribution be?
The amount cannot be predicted exactly, as it will vary on the sales volume.
How is the eco-contribution calculated?
- Each item will be given a weight and then the amount of sales of each product will indicate to the authorities the sales volume. The authorities will then confirm the amount payable to contribute towards the recycling of the goods put on the market for the calendar year.
How do I de-register if I stop selling?
- Inform your advisor at AVASK so we can submit your final declarations.
- Pay any outstanding eco-fees.
- AVASK can then de-register your company and terminate your contract with your Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO).
Can I stop compliance if I simply stop selling?
No. Simply stopping your sales activities does not automatically end your legal obligations. To stop reporting, you must formally de-register and submit your final reports for the current period.
What if I had no sales this year?
Even if you had zero sales, you are still required to submit a "zero declaration."
What happens if I don’t comply?
Failure to register or report accurately carries significant risks to your business, including:
- Government fines: Potential administrative sanctions and penalties.
- Retroactive eco-fees: Being billed for previous years of non-payment.
- Marketplace restrictions: Your selling platform may restrict your listings or suspend your account if you cannot provide a valid registration number.
